Future of Work
A Society for Digital Nomads
Description
Digital nomads have unique needs that are different from traditional office-based employees. For example, digital nomads need a reliable and fast internet connection to work remotely and/or a place to work outside of their homes, such as a co-working space or remote work hub. Digital nomads also need access to medical care and childcare (in case they have children) while they travel. Another huge issue is finding affordable and safe housing, especially if they stay in the same place for a short period of time. If traveling alone, digital nomads may also experience isolation and loneliness, with the consequent impacts it might have to their mental health. Also, digital nomads might have difficulties related with financial planning and retirement savings when moving from place to place regularly. By providing solutions to these needs, employers can help support digital nomad employees and enable them to be successful while working remotely, which can lead to higher job satisfaction, improved retention rates, and a more productive and engaged remote workforce.
What if governments and employers collaborated to create a global standard for remote work that ensured access to essential services and benefits? What if digital nomad families had access to a community of other digital nomad families, who could share resources and provide support and advice on essential services and other challenges related to remote work? How can technologies, like blockchain AI and machine learning, allow for easier and more personalized healthcare services no matter where they were in the world?
