Description
One of the longest lasting problems in construction industry is the lack of communication between the design and building phases of the projects. Architects have great visions for the buildings but many of the visions are toned down or changed dramatically because of lack of communication. The builders don’t do this intentionally, but they might lack the understanding of compounding small details resulting in dramatic accessibility or usability issues in buildings.
Building Information Modeling (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Building_information_modeling) is adapted nowadays for big construction projects. It is basically a detailed 3D model for the building and is used mainly for the construction and maintenance purposes. What if we would transform the BIM models from static 3D representations of the property to fully dynamic metaverse environment where they would act as living and breathing digital twins for the property?
Considering the models would be perfect, we would know exactly what is hidden behind the walls and ceiling. How might the metaverse environment enable us to create completely new kind of maintenance, design and renovation services with BIMs? How would the metaverse BIM look like and what would be the best interfaces for it now and in the future (smart phone, computers, VR goggles, etc…)?
In this project we aim to build a metaverse environment where the user can play around with simple models and design different use cases for renovation, design and construction purposes.
